About Henry Ijams
I’ve spent my career at the intersection of financial operations and technology — from commercial lending at Citi in New York, to building the leading research and advisory firm in AP automation and B2B payments.
The Arc
Early career — Commercial lending at Citibank, NYC. Learned how businesses actually move money and why it’s harder than it should be.
MBA — UNC Kenan-Flagler. Focused on operations and strategy.
EY — Payment systems consulting, specializing in commercial cards and electronic payments.
PayStream Advisors (Founder) — Built and ran the premier research and advisory firm covering accounts payable automation, B2B payments, and procurement technology. 15 years of published research, vendor evaluations, and strategic advisory. Successfully exited.
Paymentus & Corpay — Product management and product marketing leadership at two of the largest payment technology companies. Saw the enterprise side of building and selling payment products.
Streamtech Advisors (Now) — Combining all of it. Advisory work for operators who need to fix their financial operations, and GTM consulting for the fintechs selling to them.
What I Believe
Cash velocity is an operating metric, not a finance metric. The speed at which you convert delivered value into collected cash affects everything — hiring, inventory, growth capacity, even your negotiating position with suppliers.
Most businesses don’t have a technology problem. They have an infrastructure problem. The tools exist. The gap is in how billing, collections, and payments are wired together — and whether anyone’s actually mapped the friction.
AI will transform financial operations. But not yet for most companies. The foundations need to be right first. Clean data, structured processes, sensible workflows. Then AI becomes a multiplier instead of an expensive experiment.
